Panama-Canada Free Trade Agreement (CPAFTA) Comes into Force

The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that the Canada-Panama Free Trade Agreement came into force on April 1, 2013.

“This customs notice is to inform you that the Canada-Panama Free Trade Agreement (CPAFTA) will be implemented on April 1, 2013. With the exception of a few agricultural goods, the CPAFTA will essentially eliminate the customs duties on all imports from Panama, either immediately upon implementation of the agreement, or through a tariff phase-out.” (more…)

International driving permit required for Florida

Beginning January 1, 2013, all U.S. non-residents must carry an international driving permit (IDP) to drive in Florida. Consequently, Canadians heading south by car, RV or motorcycle, or who are planning to rent a vehicle while in the Sunshine State, must obtain an IDP before departure.

Those who do not comply could face enforcement action by U.S. law enforcement officials (more…)

LAVAL TECHNOPOLE International Business Centre returns from Germany trade mission

The Laval delegation selected for the Germany trade mission returned November 24 after a hectic week in that country, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge about the German market as well as new leads.

Three Laval companies have decided to tackle this promising but extremely challenging market since not only is Germany the world’s second biggest exporter, it also has unmatched technology and impressive experience on the international stage.
